Eindhoven, 6 April 2014
At precisely 11.00 hrs, on Sunday, 6 April, Joost Helms, the Eindhoven City Council Member, whose portfolio includes sport and mobility, and Joost Meijs, Managing Director of Eindhoven Airport fired the starting pistol for the first Eindhoven Airport Run. With approximately 1,500 people taking part over two distances, 5 or 12.5 kilometres, this first Eindhoven Airport Run was sold out. Each contestant's starting number gave them a chance of winning one of thirty prizes, which included flight tickets, hotel accommodations, gift tokens, perfume, consumer electronics, a guided tour of the airport for 15 people, sauna visits, surprise packets, suitcases and restaurant vouchers.
The organisers of the Eindhoven Airport Run, Eindhoven Airport N.V. and the Eindhoven Marathon Foundation, look back with satisfaction on a successful event and are already thinking about staging the second Eindhoven Airport Run in 2015.
“Eindhoven Airport wants to be a business organisation that fits within the local environment in which people live and work. It was great to be able to involve them in another way than normal flying. Today, we saw a fantastic sports event in and around the airport together with them,” commented Joost Meijs, Managing Director of Eindhoven Airport.
