Spectacular, attractive and snow-guaranteed
Innsbruck lies hidden among the snowy mountains of Austria. It is a small city with cobbled streets and a picturesque architecture; a good starting point for a sporty winter holiday, but also attractive to those who do not ski.
The landscape is truly spectacular and the offer is enormous: keen winter sportsmen are served hand and foot. Innsbruck is the major hub for many ski resort destinations with guaranteed snow. However, in the city’s immediate surroundings you will also find seven varied ski areas. You can try them all with one and the same ski pass: the Innsbruck Glacier Ski Pass. No worries about transportation: the ski busses are easily accessible and for free as well.
It may come as a surprise, but this area is also a true Eldorado for non-downhill skiers: you can go cross-country skiing, luging, mountain hiking, ice skating, visit the Olympic bobsleigh track or make a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
In the summer months Innsbruck is also worthwhile. The most famous symbol of the city is the Goldenes Dachl (the Golden Roof), which is the gilded balcony of the Hofgasse in the charming old centre. In the course of the centuries, this balcony supported many archdukes and emperors. You can find more noble heritage in the impressive Ambras Castle and the imperial Hofburg Palace. The little ones are thought of as well: at the Alp Zoo children cannot only see but also feed and pet special animals. It is clear: the enchanting city of Innsbruck really offers something for everyone!
