Sunshine, beach and an abundance of culture
Golden beaches, located between high cliffs, are set against the backdrop of the mighty Taurus mountains. The coastline here is a feast to the eyes and Antalya is no exception. Welcome to the ‘pearl of the Turkish Riviera’.
Antalya is rightfully known as ‘a paradise for swimmers and sunbathers’. There are two beaches to choose from. The popular pebble beach Konyaalti, where a boulevard and a beach park provide the necessary entertainment, is located west of the city. Sandy beach Lara is quieter and is located east of Antalya. Here you will find luxury hotels and modern shops, ideal for your purchases.
Take your time
When the sun slowly sets, it is time to head into town. Shops and restaurants are opened until late in the evening. The culinary offer is particularly broad, from fish restaurants to meat restaurants and soup restaurants. Take your time for dinner as the waiters do, which is typically Turkish. Dinner is traditionally finished with a cup of kahve (coffee).
After dinner it is time to explore the abundant night life of Antalya: Konyaalti beach is lined with various little bars and the Çiçek arcade (Flower arcade) is popular because of its live music. The traditional coffee houses are also worthwhile.
Those wishing to escape from the sun can cool off in one of the many monuments that the city possesses. Antalya has an impressive heritage, varying from mosques and mansions to gates, temples, castles and numerous archaeological excavations. Tours are organised from the city to, for example, Perge, which was an important harbour in Roman times and is now a ruins with remains of an authentic bath house, theatre and stadium. From coffee houses to beach clubs and from elongated beaches to archaeological sites: Antalya has everything and more.
